From Rolls Royce to Trabant - What To Do When Your Desktop or Laptop Goes Slow

So you made an investment a few years ago on a decent laptop/desktop and were in seventh heaven as your machine purred beneath your fingertips and mouse clicks. But that was then and this is now, and your former "pride n joy" is operating at the speed of a Trabant and youre not sure why?

The reality is that just like cars, PCs/laptops need servicing from time to time. Despite starting of technically similar (obviously with different specifications), they develop unique characteristics and personalities that are dependent on their history of use. So day to day events such as installation and removal of programs, recovery from occasional crashes, virus and spyware attacks and recovery, creation and deletion of files and how they are saved on your harddrive, operating system inefficiencies etc all take their toll and eventually leave your machine needing a little TLC.

So for the technically adventurous, here are a few simple tips to help bring the zest back into your machine:

● Before starting the service, ensure that all your important data files and emails are backed up safely!

● Check how much memory the system has. Nowadays with Windows XP and more demanding software programs it is worth having at least 512Mbytes of Ram. If you have less then it may be well worth investing in more. The more memory you have the better.

● Delete any legacy printer installations and mapped network drives that no longer exist.

● Run a full anti-virus and anti-spyware scan on your system and drives. Use antivirus and AntiSpyware software that is not system resource hungry. By resource hungry I mean programs that use a lot of the machines processing power and memory. For example I personally avoid Norton antivirus because it tends to turn ones PC/laptop into a big antivirus/Spam machine, incapable of doing much else.

● Delete deleted files from your email program's folders. Often these are moved to a Delete folder for example as in Microsoft Outlook. If you dont do this your email's database file will get larger and larger and become cumbersome for your mail program to manage.

● Ensure you have at least 1 Gigabytes of disk space available on your main harddrive. If not uninstall programs you dont need and delete all unnecessary files (usually files ending in *.tmp, *.avi, *.mpg or *.wmv). You could use an utility tool such as Win XP Manager (assuming you are using Windows XP) to assist with the removal of these files. Even if you have more than 1 Gigabytes of space available it is well worth removing unnecessary files that "clog" your system..

● Backup legacy documents onto a separate drive/cd.

● Run Microsoft Scan Disk and Microsoft Defragmenter. Both these are built into your Windows operating system.

● Check and clean up your operating systems windows registry using XP Manager. Note be very careful when working with windows registry and ensure you make a copy of your systems registry before doing any tweaks. XP Manager has a user friendly wizard to help you do this process automatically annd safely.

● Use XP Manager to remove unnecessary start up programs that eat away at your systems memory. For example when you install HP printers, they often also install programs that run at your PCs/laptops start up, and which most people dont need. Again XP Manager will allow you to identify and remove these programs. However before you remove any start up programs, ensure that you understand what you are removing.

● Further tweak your PC's hardware and software settings using XP Manager. The wizard will help you with most of these.

Hopefully after this "do-it-yourself" service, your PC/laptop will be back to some of its former glory.

Navicular Disease, Contracted Heels And Bad shoeing Practices

If youre studying navicular disease youre undoubtedly finding a fairly wide array of information. Lets just look at it from the prevention/shoeing perspective.

Navicular disease accurately describes a deteriorating condition of the navicular bones that lie in the horses foot. Causes can vary and actually pinpointing the real cause often times is left undetected there are just too many factors that can contribute to the problem. One such factor is shoeing.

The navicular bones are under constant pressure from the deep flexor tendon. The deep flexor tendon is the long steel like cable of tendon that runs down the back of the leg down the back side of the pastern joint right over the navicular bones and attaches itself to the coffin bone. Without that deep flexor tendon there basically is nothing to support the weight of the horse and the fetlock joint would collapse and fall to the ground.

So while the navicular bones are pressed into the foot by the deep flexor tendon it would be prudent to make sure the bones in the navicular area can function at their best which brings us to how shoeing can have an affect.

Its typically understood that contracted heels have a negative effect on navicular disease. The narrow heels squeeze and crowd the navicular bones. The bones need room to breathe so to speak and contracted (narrow) heels dont allow this.

Horses with long toes, where the hoof wall is allowed to keep growing out in front, have a tendency toward contracted heels. The reason for this is as the toe keeps moving and growing forward the load and weight of the horse has a tendency to stretch the hoof wall more forward this condition will drag the heels forward as well. As the heels press forward the heels also contract and narrow. The pinching of the navicular bones start and so do the possible problems.

While the heels move forward they usually get shorter meaning the angle of the hoof reduces and the heels of the foot are closer to the ground as well the horse needs lifts in the heel. This lower heel condition also puts more pressure on the deep flexor tendon against the navicular bones. The problems are compounding arent they? Narrow heels, low slung heels with more pressure against the navicular bones and added to that the stretch against the deep flexor tendon is also pulling at the coffin bone possibly causing coffin bone rotation (the tip of the coffin bone driving downward toward the ground).

To combat these issues is surely necessary and possible. For one start moving the shoe toward the rear of the horse. The shoe can be moved very close to the white line on the bottom of the foot and the excess hoof wall can be removed by rasping. This will help prevent the hoof wall from continuing to stretch forward and pull the heels with it. By moving the shoe rearward the heels of the shoe move to the rear of the foot as well helping support the heel of the foot from sinking into the ground which causes more stretch and pressure.

Now that some changes have been made in the right direction youll also want to help the heels expand (width) to give the navicular bones more room. Removing the bars of the hoof will allow more expansion (width) movement at the heels. Leaving the heel nail out of the lateral side of the foot will also give one side of the foot freedom to expand. In an extreme case its possible to rasp away at the bars widening the heels as well. Temporarily and sometimes permanently it may be necessary to use wedge pads to elevate the heel of the horse as well.

Common's "The People" revives the true essence of Hip-Hop

One of my favorite songs out right now is Commons The People the first single off his Finding Forever CD scheduled to be released July 31st, 2007. Im really anticipating Finding Forever, Commons 7th album, because I believe that Common as a MC, represents the best that Hip-Hop has to offer. If The People is any indication, I expect Finding Forever to be a classic.

Ive watched the video for The People probably over 20 times. What struck me about the video is how simple but powerful it is. The video follows Common, rapping while walking the streets of Chicago giving and receiving much love from everyday people, many who undoubtedly consider Common a hometown kid who made good. musicvideos like The People are rarely made anymore. Now artists either have big budgets in which to make over-the-top circuses filmed in exotic places or they create backyard/on-the-corner type musicvideos that too often portray their hood and its people (especially the half-naked, booty shaking females) in stereotypical fashion.

Now, Im an honest guy and Ill say straight up that I dont always mind watching attractive, thick, big-bodied females doing what they do. What can I say, Im a man. But that same ol, same ol display lacks creativity and originality. And we know that in most cases it lacks good taste. The musicvideo for The People isnt an artistic masterpiece but its real; its authentic. Common does in the video what Im sure he does in real life; walk the streets of Chicago, his city, the place where he was born and bred; the place that shaped him into what he is today. Im willing to bet that there are many rappers (some who claim to be tough and hard) that cant walk the streets of their hood cameras or no cameras.

Common has positive energy and spirit. Common receives respect and shown much love as he walks the streets of Chicago shooting the musicvideo for The People. I believe that the level of respect and love would have the same intensity if the cameras were not there and it was just another day in the Windy City. Commons new song is quite fitting because he is indeed a man of the people. He seems like such an ordinary guy simply blessed with an extraordinary talent. He doesnt come across arrogant and he seems quite humble. Hes a leader and an ambassador for true Hip-Hop musicand expression.

The musicvideo truly compliments The People featuring singer Dwele and produced by Kanye West (who in the song Common calls the new Primo), a brilliant song about the unsung heroes, everyday people living in the struggle trying to survive and find their way in life. In some ways, this song reminds me of Mele Mels legendary classic, The Message. To all of the Hip-Hop historians: Dont get all bent out of shape! It may seem that by making the comparison Im going a little too far but let me make my point.

The Message, arguably, is Hip-Hops biggest and most important record because it was one of Hip-Hops first records and revealed to the world the struggles and frustrations of living in an American ghetto during a time when this country was supposedly prospering under the leadership of President Ronald Regan. Really, that record is Hip-Hop, a culture and its musiccreated out of the everyday struggle. The Message is the true essence of Hip-Hop and Commons The People is the revival of that true essence.

In verse 2, Common borrows a little from Jay-Z (who by the way, truthfully wanna rhyme like Common Sense) when he says:

Cant leave rap alone, the streets need me Hunger in they eyes is, what seems to feed me

He goes on to end that verse by proclaiming:

Im keeping my eyes on the people-thats the prize.

This song demonstrates Commons love for the real streets-the kind of people who he sees: riding in the Regal/trying to stay legal.

What I notice in the musicvideo is how mature Common looks; hes matured not only as a man in terms of age and life experience but also musically as a MC/artist. The experience of life and living is the source from which the growth and maturity in Commons art comes from.

Commons been in the rap game for 15 years! I was in high school in 92 when he dropped his debut album Can I Borrow a Dollar?. He has consistently grown as an artist from his first album to now with the anticipated release of his 7th album, Finding Forever. Common continues to speak as a voice for everyday people and his musicreaches out to touch the lives of lifes unsung heroes.

The People is a powerful record that proves that Hip-Hop shines the brightest when profound MCs like Common are in the spotlight.

When you have tinnitis the distinguishing features don't only include ringing ear. The problem is that there are too many possible variations of the ringing ear symptom and also that many causes that medical professionals will often not recognize the tinitus symptoms you describe to them.

Many times the ringing ear symptom in the ears will cause TMJ resulting from a "bad bite". The mechanics of the jaw consist of a network of vessels, muscles and nerves and when the bite is out of sinc, the muscles, nerves and vessels of the ears can be affected. When these contract too much it may result in tinnitis. If a tentative bite causes the ringing ear symptom, a neuromuscular dentist can realign your bite so the jaws are synchronized with less muscle tension.

It is my experience that the ringing ear symptom is very common among those with a high frequency hearing loss which often will be caused from exposure to loud noise. However everyone with high frequency hearing loss may not necessarily experience tinnitis. The fact that you have high frequency hearing loss does not mean you will develop tinnitis. That's because there are too many possible variations associated with a ringing noise in the ears. If you are subjected to a exposure to loud noise the tinnitis is often triggered.

A well known tinnitis fact, 95% of all instances of tinnitus are as a result of exposure to noise, stress or sinus problems.

Ear infections, reduced hearing hearing, or even vertigo (dizziness) can be connected to a muscle-spasm problem originating with the teeth. In addition the ringing ear symptom can be an indication of an allergy, high or low blood pressure, diabetes, a tumor, injury to the head or neck, thyroid problems, and a variety of other causes including medications such as anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, sedatives, antidepressants, and aspirin.

Symptoms of tinnitis may be intermittent, always with you, or of a pusatile quality. You may even have single or multiple tones. When there are fewer distractions or at night the ringing ear symptom can be more annoying.

The symptoms of tinnitis experienced by sufferers of this affliction can range from being merely a mild annoyance to being severly debilitating. In fact there are about 5 million people in the US that are so badly afflicted by ringing ear symptom that they are unable to work or function normally.

London and Monaco are Europe's Most Expensive Cities For Residential Property Buyers

Closely on its tail is Prime Central London, where 120 sq. m. super-luxury apartments can cost 1,170,000 or 9,750 per square metre (sq. m.) (in Euro: 1,742,656, or 14,522 per sq. m.). Apartments of 120 sq. m. in other luxury areas of Central London are likely to cost 580,000 or 4,833 per sq. m. (863,880 or 7,199). The large difference is explained by Londons highly segmented top-end market, with super-luxury apartments in absolutely prime areas commanding considerable premiums.

Paris and Amsterdam follow London. A 120 sq. m. apartment in either of these cities has an average purchase price of 800,000 (6,667 per sq. m.).

Moscow is Europes sixth most expensive capital for buyers of residential property. And though apartments in Moscow can be rather rewarding for buyers in terms of rental income returns, investors should be aware of the high risks (purchases are cash-based, and the authorities can suddenly turn hostile).

Dublin makes an appearance among Europes most expensive cities in 10th place, with a high end 120 sq. m. apartment on average costing around 600,000.

The Baltics, till recently Europes hottest residential investment destination, are now expensive. A high-end apartment in Central Vilnius, Lithuania will cost on average around 3,792 per sq. m (455,000 for 120 sq. m.). Latvia follows closely with high-end apartments in Central Riga costing an average of 3,020 pr sq. m. rental yields in the Baltics have also dropped to very low levels.

There are still some very inexpensive capitals in Europe. Berlin, in particular (3,167 per sq. m.), is now experiencing inflows of foreign money in response to its relatively low prices. But much less expensive are Slovakias Bratislava (1,292 per sq. m.); warsaw, Poland (1,175 per sq. m.); Skopje in Macedonia (1,125 per sq. m.) and Chisinau in Moldova (917 per sq. m.). It is to be expected that foreign buying in some of these capitals will accelerate.

rental returns are falling

The rental returns on owning apartments in Europe vary greatly - from around 14.13% in Moldovas capital Chisinau, to 2.43% in Monaco. The trend is for rental income returns to fall, because rents are not keeping pace with prices anywhere in Europe. As 2007 dawns, rental returns are lower in most locations than they have been for 20 or more years.

To some extent rental returns appear to correlate with risk. Most of Europes high yielding countries are in the East. Apartments in four Eastern European capitals earn above 10% rental returns: Chisinau, Moldova (14.13%); warsaw, Poland (13.28%); Sofia, Bulgaria (10.56%); and Bratislava, Slovakia (10.06%). The higher risks of the East may be a factor in these returns (high corruption, political risks).

But risks are not the only factor. The Global Property Guide believes that the relatively recent arrival of the market economy, high interest rates, and relatively undeveloped mortgage markets. To illustrate, it would surely be hard to label the historic city of Bratislava, Slovakia, as a high-risk location, yet the rental income returns are excellent.

Western Europe generally suffers from another, different disadvantage: High taxation. There are high rental income returns to be earned in Amsterdam and Paris (8.25% in both), in Munich (7.80%) and Brussels (7.53%). But all four cities are high tax environments.(Poland and Moldova are also high tax for rental income.)

Property in Prime Central London returns surprisingly high rental yields, at 7.13%. Note that this Prime category encompasses relatively a narrow group of super-luxury apartments in absolutely prime areas (Belgravia, Chelsea, and Knightsbridge). The high returns in these select locations contrast with the significantly lower rental yields (5.79%) available in Central Londons other luxury areas (Kensington, Bayswater, Notting Hill Gate, St Johns Wood, Highgate, Islington, Highbury, and Primrose Hill).

rental returns cannot fall forever

Nowhere in Europe are rents keeping pace with the continued rise in property prices. This is cause for concern. At the Global Property Guide, we informally consider a danger signal to be rental returns of around 4% or below.

Several European capitals offer rental income yields around or below this 4% level. An example is Madrid, where rental returns are now at only 3.15%.

Computer Guru Secrets to Buying a Computer!

Being an Information Technology (I.T.) Consultant - or a "Computer Guy" as I prefer to be called - can be a dangerous profession. Sometimes when people find out what I do for a living, I practically get tackled! "Hey, I'm about to buy a new computer...what should I get?" After being a computer guy for nearly twenty years, I'm a good person to ask. In this article, I will share with you the my advice on how to buy a new computer.

There is nothing more frustrating than spending your hard-earned money on a new computer and ending up being frustrated because you didn't get what you wanted. By following a few simple guidelines, you can buy the perfect computer for your needs without spending an arm and a leg.

If you are considering buying a laptop, please read my article "Should I Buy a Desktop or Laptop computer?" (available at my website) to help you make up your mind. If you are certain that a desktop is the right choice for you, then here is my advice on how to pick the perfect new computer to suit your needs.

What Kind of Computer?

There are many brands of computers available. (I happen to be an unabashed fan of Dell Computers. I have recommended Dell desktop, laptop, and server computers to my friends, family, and clients for many years and continue to be impressed with their quality, value, and performance. Each Thursday I check out the latest Dell deals as they come out, and post the deal of the week on my website.) However, if you prefer another brand, just take the following guidelines into account and you'll be fine.

I specifically do NOT recommend that you buy your new computer at a big retail outlet, discount club, or office supply store for the following reasons:

-- Windows XP Professional is usually not available on retail store computers.

-- The Office suite is often a "Trial", requiring you to pay more money in 60 days to keep using it.

-- Technical support is often expensive, outsourced overseas, and not great quality.

What Operating System?

I strongly recommend Windows XP Professional for your operating system. The professional version is a $100 upgrade from the Home Edition, and it is worth it. While the interface is nearly identical, there are some important features that XP Professional has that you want., such as:

-- Advanced networking features which are required for any office environment where you will be attached to a server.

-- Better networking and security features

-- Fax capabilities

-- Enhanced backup/system recovery options

-- Remote Desktop, which allows you to take over your computer from anywhere in the world! (Forget paying $20/mo for GoToMyPC or LogMeIn...just buy WinXP Professional and the functionality is built in!)

What about WinXP Media Center edition and Windows VISTA? I'm not a fan of either. WinXP Media Center turns your computer into a jukebox, Tivo, and DVD player. If you are a college student with limited space in your dorm room, this might be ok. But my experience is, people invest in a WinXP Media Center computer, and after the newness wears off, they go back to using their TV to watch TV again. I don't believe in clogging up your computer with software that you aren't using on a regular basis.

Windows Vista is too new, and while it shows promise, I don't recommend a new operating system until Service Pack One is released. As the old saying goes, "You can always tell the pioneers by the arrows in their backs". Let someone else debug Vista. My opinion on this will likely change later in 2007 or early 2008 when some of the issues have been worked out.

How Much RAM??

Get a minimum of One Gigabyte (1024 Megabytes) of RAM. The single most important thing you can do to speed up your computer is to make sure it has plenty of RAM. Invest in a GIG now and you'll never regret it. Your computer may run fast when you first pull it out of the box, but once you start installing software, surfing the internet, downloading music, or doing whatever it is you do...trust me, things are going to start to slow down.

512Megs is the bare minimum for a Windows XP computer with Service Pack 2 installed (my rule, not Microsoft's). 768Megs is better, and a Gig is optimal. If you are into video editing, CAD/CAM, or Photoshop, you might want to invest in more than a Gigabyte. Another reason to buy more now is so you can upgrade to Vista later. If that is your plan, get two Gigabytes now.

What Kind of Processor??

The minimum processor and hard drive are probably adequate. For most people, the "slowest" processor offered is probably more than adequate. Faster processers are often available for $50-$500 more, but I think you're wasting your money if you are like most users and just want to surf the web, read email, do some word processing etc. Spend that extra money on more RAM or an external hard disk for backups instead!

How Big of a Hard Disk??

Similarly, unless you really plan on downloading tons of music and movies or take LOTS of big digital photos, the "smallest" hard drive available is probably adequate. As an example, Windows XP and Microsoft Office combined take up less than 4 Gigs. Most of the hard drives I see have less than 20 Gigs used. Just go for the minimum drive (it's probably 60-80 Gigs) and, if you run out of space you can always invest in second internal or external hard drive later.

An exception to this rule is that lately I have noticed Dell charging only $10 to upgrade from an 80Gig hard drive to a 160Gig hard drive. Obviously, it is worth a mere $10 to double your hard drive space.

Summary?

By following just a few guidelines, you can save yourself a lot of money and buy the best computer that will serve you well for many years to come. Remember to seriously consider Windows XP Pro, get a GIG of RAM, and go with the minimum processor and smallest hard drive. For more advice, tips and tricks, visit my website.

Drivers acting Like Trout

One of the odd things certain drivers do is following another vehicle closely through an overtaking manoeuvre. Take any busy road, start to overtake, and chances are someone else will pull out to make it a team event. What stimulates this seems to be the response of a trout going after a fly, the same thing that makes a motorist want to overtake the car in front, even if they are moving at the same speed. This triggers another common behaviour, the driver of the car being passed speeding up to keep up with the person who passed them. The process can go on for a while, even to the point that if for some reason this person is forced to drop behind, they will come speeding up to resume station. It often requires a distraction to get rid of them, such as getting a couple of cars in between.

We do these things because we have done them often before and gotten away with them. The problem is that in terms of risk assessment, having done something a thousand times doesnt mean it was right, just that the person was lucky. This overtaking behaviour is both annoying and unsafe. I am not so lonely that I crave that kind of bonding, and it cuts out a lot of options in case of crisis. That could triggered by the lead car suffering a puncture, the engine stalling, a deer or dog in the road, or an alien spaceship landing. The point is that somewhere, as you are reading this, one of those things is happening, with the possible exception of the spaceship. It makes little sense to wander the highways in the blissful belief that nothing will go wrong.

In racing, we follow another driver closely partly to be able to pass, but largely to force that person into making a mistake. When the other driver is watching the mirrors too much, driving precision might suffer from the distraction. However, as anyone who has watched a race will realise, if the lead driver suddenly slows there is a fair chance of getting collected by those behind. Not much fun, and less so on the street. Recently on the news, there was a report of a two hundred car crash somewhere in the United States. That is an astonishing figure, but thirty car pileups seem fairly common. Getting caught in this would be as much fun as a train wreck.

Overtaking of any sort involves a degree of vulnerability, even on multi-lane roads. Doing the tandem pass on a two-lane road is the equivalent of standing in a valley between two mountains, during a snowstorm, and hoping there wont be an avalanche.

Pump Maintenance and Repair for Pressure Washers

If you have a pressure washer business you will eventually need to change out or repair the pump. There are a few things you should know to make such change outs easy. You may also need to study up on preventative maintenance so that you do not have to worry about pump failure. Your pressure washer probably has one of two different pumps if it is industrial grade. Either a Cat Pump or a General pump; both are industry standards. General is the leader in the industry for sales and many prefer Cat as it sucks better from plastic water tanks.

Your pump is powered by two parallel belts connected to your engine. You should make sure not to starve your pump from water. When the water tank is empty turn off the engine. Starving a pump will burn it out in about thirty-five minutes. The manufacturer says five to ten minutes, but thats not life threatening. Your pump has a safety feature whereby when you are not spraying the water, it will automatically by pass into the tank provided there is enough water for the complete loop. Thank you. We also thought it was one of our great ideas. You should change the oil in the pump every month. Make sure your pressure washer rig is on level ground and fill the pump to the red dot on the center of the eyeglass. Over filling is a really bad idea.

On your pump you will notice six large bolts. Inside of the holes are check valves with springs. After 300-500 hours you should change them. You can do this yourself. The valve kits are $60.000. Its very easy:

Unscrew bolts

Remove old valve

Replace valve

Make sure to seat the valve evenly

Screw the bolt back in by hand

Make sure the O-ring on the bolt is snug

Tighten with wrench pretty tight

Inspecting The Pump

If you drain the oil and its got bubbles in it or has turned white, then you have a blown seal and water is getting into the oil because: It overheated due to water starvation; The casing cracked because of vibration; You forgot to change the oil, dummy ($600 mistake and one lost days work if you can get the parts that fast).

Check to see if the belts are tight. If not tighten them. Look for water drips. A slow drip on the exit side of the pump could cost you as much as 150 PSI at the nozzle. A fast drip (two to three drops per second) could be a 250-300 PSI loss at the nozzle. A steady drip stream might be a 500 plus PSI loss. When you see water leaking, fix the leak ASAP. Be sure to use ample Teflon tape when re-tightening fittings. This will stop future leaks, prevent rust and make fittings easy to separate in the future.

A hole in a hose or leak on the inlet side of the pump causes air to get in. The pump will act as if its starving for water. It might even pulsate. When the water level in your tank reaches a point below the leak in the hose, air will replace the water and youll get zero pressure. That makes it very hard to wash anything.

Low pressure in the pump can be caused by a number of things; these are by far the most common, but this is not a complete list, generally if you go thru this list the problem will be solved, check the easiest things first such as water supply:

Faulty pressure gauge (Replace)

Out of water (Fill up tank)

Old or worn out tip at gun nozzle (Replace)

Incorrect tip (Remove and replace)

Belt slippage (Tighten belt)

Hose leaks (Fix leaks)

Faulty unloader (Replace)

Mis-adjusted unloader (Re-adjust)

Worn packing in pump (Take it to dealer)

Inline filter clogged with dirt (Clean it)

Obstruction in spray nozzle tip (Remove it)

Chemical metering valve sucking air (Turn it off)

Slow engine rpm (Check engine)

If you have a pulsating issue at the gun or the machine is Fluctuating pressure, this is a completely different problem than low pressure. You should check for: Worn piston packing (Call dealer). Pump sucking air (Fix hole), Blockage in valve (Remove, check valves and take out blockage). If it is fluctuating and very noisy or if your pump is only noisy check for:

Air in suction line (Check water supply and connections)

Broken or weak inlet or discharge valve springs (Call dealer)

Excessive matter in valves (Check and clean if necessary)

Worn bearings (Check and replace. If necessary, call dealer)

Vibrations from mounting (Tighten it. If unable, call dealer)

If you find the presence of water in the pump oil, it could be caused by: Blown pump head seals, High humidity in air (Change oil more often) or Piston packing worn then call your dealer. If water or oil drips from the bottom of the pump this could be a number of things such as Piston packing worn, the O-ring plunger retainer is worn, Oil seal worn, Pump head seal shot or Crack in pump head. If any of these call the dealer and see if they have the parts in stock, you may be able to fix it yourself if you feel confident, if not you will need to leave your machines with the dealer for repairs.

Pump lubrication should be done every three months or 500 hours, which ever comes first. Use SAE 40 weight oil or equivalent for Cat pumps. Use 20/30 weight non-detergent oil for General pumps. It should be hydraulic oil with anti-wear and rust inhibitor additives. The oil level should be checked by looking in the window on the side of the pump. Only fill oil half way to the red dot.
